We’re open for entries!

We’re buzzing with excitement!!!

It’s because today is the day the Great British Entrepreneur Awards in partnership with Starling Bank opens for entries in 2020.

2019 was an amazing year for us. We received 3,000 entries, traveled to three new regions, changed the style of the regional finals, shortlisted more than 700 entrepreneurs and crowned more than 100 regional winners and 14 national winners.

Opening the entry window, our founder Francesca James, said: “Looking forward as we enter our eighth year, we can’t wait to get started on the 2020 programme with the support of Starling Bank. Today marks the start of our search for the next Great British Entrepreneur of the Year, and I can’t wait to start reading the incredibly inspiring stories of this country’s entrepreneurs.”

This year we will visit Brighton for the first time as the host city for the newly separated South East region, while the South West’s regional final move from Exeter to Bath.

We’ve also got three new categories for you; Health & Wellbeing Entrepreneur of the Year, Fashion & Beauty Entrepreneur of the Year, and a new award that recognises entrepreneurs from overseas who have built businesses in the UK.

2019 Great British Entrepreneur of the Year, Celia Hodson who founded period poverty campaign brand Hey Girls, said: “To have my name called out was an amazing feeling. Our profile has just gone through the roof after winning. It makes a huge difference, drives sales and makes the team feel fabulous, makes me feel really amazing as the founder of something that is making a difference.”

Anne Boden MBE, founder of headline sponsor Starling Bank, said: “Life as a business owner can be a bit of a balancing act and support is often in short supply. These awards provide encouragement, recognition and a community for the women and men who are the business success stories of the future. Their contribution is arguably more important than any other group to our economic health and long-term prosperity, and Starling is here to help these businesses fly, whether it is getting off the ground or reaching new heights.”

If you’ve got an inspiring entrepreneurial story, we want to hear it. Spend the next few weeks thinking about what makes your story so interesting and inspiring.
