We’re over the moon to be bringing you the news that Hey Girls is our new charity partner for 2020!
Hey Girls is a social enterprise that offers environmentally friendly, plastic-free and biodegradable period products. Using the ‘buy one give one’ model, Hey Girls’ mission is to eradicate period poverty in the UK, and since launching early in 2018 has donated more than 7.2 million period products.
It’s a mission and story that led to Hey Girls founder, Celia Hodson, being named Great British Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019.
As well as selling its products in supermarkets across the UK, Hey Girls has secured contracts with the Scottish government to supply products to all local authority schools in Scotland and is now securing tenders with local governments in England and Wales.
It is also working with brands and corporations to supply free period products for its workforce, as well as education sessions for both boys and girls, and people of all ages.
Francesca James, our founder, said: “We instantly fell in love with both Celia’s entrepreneurial story and her mission to eradicate period poverty in the UK.
“As part of our ethos to be more than just an awards ceremony and to support our community throughout the year, it made perfect sense to make Hey Girls our charity partner for 2020. Having named her Great British Entrepreneur of the Year in 2019, we’re thrilled to be working with Celia through this partnership, and by welcoming her to the judging panel.”
Celia said: “We’re really thrilled to be named as the Great British Entrepreneur Awards’ charity partner for 2020. Being part of the alumni has already been so valuable to us as a start-up social enterprise, so we are looking forward to seeing what the next year holds. We hope that this partnership will help us to make big strides in eradicating period poverty in the UK.”
