Sports nutrition company, Grenade, has been named among the UK’s fastest growing businesses for international sales by the Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 led by Fast Track.
Led by husband and wife Alan & Juliet Barratt, who won the national Great British Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2018, Grenade achieved international sales of £11.5 million over the past two years, giving the company 90th place on the league table.
Alan and Juliet started the company in 2010 with just £27, and went on to build one of the biggest, and best-known sports nutrition snacks. In 2017, they sold the controlling stake in the business to Lion Capital for £72 million. But still retaining their places at the helm of the company, Alan and Juliet have continued to drive the business forward, looking to innovate with new products and expand globally.
Commenting on the news on social media, Alan said: “This shows what’s possible even despite the current economic uncertainty, as while many of the large brands are whining about a situation they can’t control, entrepreneurs do what we always do, we disrupt and navigate the best path forward. When someone says it can’t be done, we go all out to prove it can be. The only limits we face are those of our own imagination.”
