Here are our 15 most exciting food entrepreneurs to watch in 2020.


Jonathan & Alex Petrides – allplants

Jonathan and Alex Petrides are the founders of allplants, a 100% plant-based food and meal subscription service. The pair created the business to encourage people to live a vegan life in order to protect the future of the planet. Allplant is a certified B-Corp with its packaging recyclable, compostable or reusable.


Paul Brown – BOL Foods

Paul Brown is the founder of BOL Foods, a plant-based ready meal brand designed for ‘time-poor foodies’. Its dinner boxes, soups, veg pots and salad jars offer a plant-based twist on British favourites.


Adam Wills & Jian-Peng Then – Crosstown Doughnuts

Adam Wills and Jian-Peng Then are the founders of Crosstown Doughnuts. Crosstown’s quirky range of doughnuts are freshly made by hand every day and are available through gift boxes or at live events. It offers doughnut walls, a doughnut and coffee trailer, and a coffee bar to add something interesting to any event.


Dafna Bonas – Indie Bay Snacks

Dafna Bonas is the founder of Indie Bay Snacks, an award-winning snack brand that offers plenty of health benefits. Its vegan-friendly, crunchy, chocolate pretzels contain natural ingredients, no trans fats, and are packed with protein and fibre.


Harriot Pleydell-Bouverie – Mallow & Marsh

Harriot Pleydell-Bouverie is the founder of Mallow & Marsh, a chocolate-covered marshmallow snack. Stocked in over 3,000 stores across the UK, they are available in bars or sharing bags with each marshmallow handmade over four days.


Hannah Adams & Jen Henry – Naked Dough

Hannah Adams and Jen Henry are the founders of Naked Dough, the UK’s first cookie dough cafe. Based in Camden Town, Naked Dough offers a ‘pint of dough’ and party packs made with fresh, handmade dough. It also sells ‘make your own’ kits for customers to take home and continue the experience at home.


Emilie Vanpoperinghe & Deepak Ravindran – Oddbox

Emilie Vanpoperinghe & Deepak Ravindran are the founders of Oddbox, a sustainable fruit and veg box service that uses ‘wonky’ and surplus produce. Based in London, it delivers boxes to homes and offices directly from farms using their produce deemed not suitable for the supermarket shelves.


Olly Hiscocks – Olly’s Olives

Olly Hiscocks is the founder of Olly’s Olives, a range of olive-based snacks sold in supermarkets and stores right across the country. Olly’s Olives products are also available on Ocado and Amazon, and recently secured a place on all easyJet flights.


Brad Stevens – Pizza Punks

Brad Stevens is the founder of Pizza Punks, a pizza restaurant based in Belfast, Glasgow and Newcastle. With branding and toppings inspired by punk culture, Pizza Punks creates “anarchy in the oven” by letting customers choose unlimited toppings for one set price.


Freddie Gore Browne & Luke Canvin – PRIME Bar

Freddie Gore Browne and Luke Canvin are the founders of Prime Bar, a range of protein snacks made with grass-fed beef, fruits and peppers. Naturally dairy and gluten-free, PRIME bars are low sugar using real whole-food ingredients, including nutrient-dense animal protein.


Meg & Jonathan Chapman – RawHalo

Meg and Jonathan Champan are the husband and wife founders of RawHalo, an organic raw chocolate brand made from ethically-sourced, plant ingredients. Having started with hand deliveries to local, organic stores, RawHalo is now stocked in major retailers throughout the UK.


Adam & Drew Jones – Tattu

Adam and Drew Jones are the founders of Tattu, a Chinese-inspired restaurant and bar with locations in Birmingham, Edinburgh, Leeds and Manchester. Tattu combines contemporary Chinese cuisine, fusing traditional flavours with modern cooking methods.


James Averdieck – The Coconut Collaborative

James Averdieck is the founder of The Coconut Collaborative, a range of snack and dessert products that use coconut milk and cream instead of cow’s milk. It makes Great Taste award-winning dairy-free yoghurts, melting dessert pots and ice creams. The Coconut Collaborative also creates fruit-filled pouches for babies.


David Knibbs & Lydia Smith – The Tofoo Co

David Knibbs and Lydia Smith are the founders of The Tofoo Co, a range of tofu-based food products. Stocked by supermarkets and stores across the country, it also offers recipes to help customers move towards a meat-free diet and expand their cooking horizons.


Matteo Ferrari & Nick Croft-Simon – White Rabbit Pizza Co

Matteo Ferrari and Nick Croft-Simon are the founders of White Rabbit Pizza Co, a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free pizzas that keep the authenticity of Italian pizza alive. The pair met while working at the White Rabbit pub in Oxford, which became known for its pizzas and was regularly voted Best Pizza Restaurant in Oxford.
