Always an entrepreneur at heart, Kate followed the traditional post-uni career path, through a graduate scheme and blue-chip companies, rising quickly in her marketing field, gathering experience and insight along the way.
However, she knew she would never be entirely fulfilled until she grabbed the opportunity to put those entrepreneurial dreams into practice. In 2013, Kate discovered the Flying Tiger brand on a trip to Barcelona. Within 5 months she had secured funding, a business partner and the JV to start, grow and build the concept in Wales and Bristol, opening the first store in the region on the 1st December that year. The business went on to open 8 more stores, employ more than 120 people and turnover more than £5m before selling her stake back to the parent company at the end of 2018.
Since then Kate has used her skills to support and add value to businesses who are knee deep in their start-up and scale-up journey. She works with the C-suite to focus the team on strategy, structure, process, culture and more, allowing them to build the foundations they need to ready the business for the next level. The voice of reason, the critical friend, the ‘get it done’ exec, she roll’s her sleeves up and handles the complexities of the business, so that the core team can concentrate on delivering their vision.
Kate also provides mentoring at the Alacrity foundation for tech start-ups, and has a number of advisory projects ongoing across various of sectors including retail, tech and consumer goods.
